Art, Activism, Activation: Featuring #Dysturb, Magnum Foundation, and CultureStrike
September 5 | 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Join us for a conversation with image makers and image activators innovating at the intersection of art and action.
6–6:30pm Tour the COAL + ICE exhibition and meet participating photographers David Breashears, Matt Black, Geng Yunsheng, Gideon Mendel, Nichole Sobecki, Song Chao, and Jamey Stillings.
In anticipation of 350’s Rise for Climate, Jobs, and Justice march, we’ll explore the role of artistic intervention within cultural and political organizing, visual representations of climate justice, and the use of public space–both physical and digital–for changemaking.
As we launch #reframeclimate, a campaign to spark dialogue on global issues of climate change in the San Francisco area, we welcome you to learn about where you can see (and hear!) more around the Bay in the coming weeks!
Beginning as a street intervention in Paris during the COP21 Climate Change Summit, #reframeclimate is an initiative of the Magnum Foundation, a non-profit expanding creativity and diversity in documentary photography, and Dysturb, a network of photojournalists driven by the desire to make visual information freely accessible to a wider audience. Join the #Reframeclimate curatorial team and participating photographers for a discussion on photography, art, and activism.
Free event with advanced registration.
COAL + ICE is a documentary photography exhibition and festival of events that seeks to amplify that conversation about climate change. For a full schedule of events visit coalandice.org/events.
